JANUARY 4, 2009       In Memoriam ... Ulises Castillo  (1989-2009)

We note with great sadness the untimely passing of Eagle alumnus Ulises Castillo (Akins Class of 2007), who died on New Years Day, 2009. With an overall batting average of .316, outfielder Castillo led the 2007 Eagles in hits (24), runs scored (13) and on-base percentage (48%). Lefthander Castillo (#2) became a familiar sight as leadoff batter in the Eagles lineup. He earned the honor of being named the Eagles’ Offensive Player of the Year for 2007.
